Chinese Language Education

LIBES is at the forefront of Chinese language education in Zambia, with a program that began following the establishment of the Confucius Institute at the University of Zambia in 2011. The Chinese language courses at LIBES are supported by enthusiastic educators and a vibrant community of learners. Ms. Hei Li is currently leading this program, continuing the legacy of previous teachers such as Ms. Chen Ying, Wang Chao, and Liang Yongchi.

The Chinese language program at LIBES is designed for students majoring in international tourism, food production, and those from other departments who are interested in learning Chinese. The program is part of LIBES’s broader commitment to cultural exchange and global understanding.

Confucius Institute Activities

To enrich the learning experience, LIBES hosts a range of Confucius Institute activities that showcase Chinese culture. These activities include:

  • Making Dumplings: Learn the art of preparing traditional Chinese dumplings.
  • Chinese Knots: Explore the craft of creating intricate Chinese knots.
  • Chinese Art and Characters: Engage in drawing traditional Chinese pictures and characters.
  • Chinese Tea: Discover the rich tradition of Chinese tea tasting.

These activities provide students and staff with a deeper appreciation of Chinese culture, complementing their language studies.
